GBrowse:Project
From GBrowse
GBrowse.org is created to facilitate use about GMOD tools as bioinformatic utility to browse, download, query genome annotated data and to team up with labs that have not got one's own server or bioinformatics operators.
GBrowse.org project born september 2008. Its goals are:
- one GBrowse for each model organism
- public ftp for download GFF3 and configuration files
- net among official MOD sites, data and curators about each model organism
So, the site could be official ftp about MODs and mirror about existing MOD. You could browse into each model organism informations and data downloadble with Genome section. Any further informations about actual GBrowse.org contents, you could look Help:Contents.
Data about model organisms genome annotation could be mirrored from existing MOD and downloaded from GenBank ftp site.
Project plan counts:
- If you have GFF3 files of your organism's genome annotation, let GBrowse.org Help Desk know where to mirror them from, and GBrowse.org operators will do the work of setting up a GBrowse, and then redistributing the config file and source files on the ftp.gbrowse.org site. Mirroring could be done weekly/monthly.. in according with each existing MOD.
- If there is no GFF3 file available, GBrowse.org operators will take the most recent GenBank entries from NCBI, convert them into GFF3, and then set up the GBrowse and ftp site with the converted data.
- In both cases, GBrowse.org operators will create links back to your databases so that the provenance of the annotations are conserved.
